We are The Business Excellence Institute. Our website address is businessexcellence.org and you can find our contact information there. The protection of your personal data is of great importance to us and we take it very seriously – anything else would be nothing like excellence and go against our values. This Privacy Statement is written to be concise and easy to understand as possible. In it, the terms “the Institute”, “us”, “we” shall refer to the Business Excellence Institute.
This website
This website (BusinessLearningGames.com) is the Institute’s site for the annual International Conference on Business Learning Games (ICOBLG) and the International Business Learning Games Competition (IBLGC). The site is used to (i) promote the ICOBLG (ii) as a IBLGC entry system, (iii) to sell tickets to the ICOBLG, and (iv) as a way for organizations to sponsor these events.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect and process Personal Data (which is any formation related to an individual human being that can be used either directly or indirectly to identify the person). We only use personal data you give us for the purposes for which it is provided. Like most websites, each time you access the site, log files record certain technical data and other information such as the time and date of your access is recorded. The legal basis for processing such data (to the extent that it is to be considered personal data) is “legitimate interests”, these legitimate interests arise from the fact that without such data the website cannot be accessed, we have an interest to continuously improve the website and its services, and to protect against fraud. The details of other data we collect and process are given below:
1. If you are Ordering Tickets
The information we collect and process is: your name, email address, your postal address for invoicing and, if provided, your organization and your EU VAT number/tax number (in some cases, this is personal data). The information is used to process your order, contact you about your order if required, and – if you choose – to provide you with a Name Badge when you attend the ICOBLG.
Please note:
a) Your name, email address, and postal address are collected due to Contractual Necessity
b) If you are based in Portugal, your EU VAT/Tax number is collected due to Contractual Necessity, otherwise it is collected based on your consent
c) Your organization name is only collected with your consent
d) You can withdraw your consent at any time by letting us know
2. If you are Entering a game in the IBLGC
The information we collect and process is: your name, email address, your postal address for invoicing and, if provided, your organization and your EU VAT number/tax number (in some cases, this is personal data). The information is used to enter your game in the competition and to enable any necessary follow-up communications concerning the entry.
Please note:
a) Your name, email address, and postal address are collected due to Contractual Necessity
b) If you are based in Portugal, your EU VAT/Tax number is collected due to Contractual Necessity, otherwise it is collected based on your consent
c) Your organization name is only collected with your consent
d) You can withdraw your consent at any time by letting us know
3. If you are contacting us about Sponsorship
The information we collect and process is: your name, email address, your organization, your phone number (if provided), and your organization’s website address (if provided). The information is used to have us get in touch with you to discuss sponsorship.
Please note: all the information is collected on the basis of your consent. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by letting us know.
Where we store and process your data
Your data will be stored and processed in the EU.
Who we share your data with
Except as required by law (where the legal basis for sharing your data is legal obligation), your data will only be shared with the Conference’s Portuguese Organiser.
How long we retain your data
Your data will be kept for 8 years (or, in some cases, less).
What rights you have over your data
If you have submitted personal data to us, you have the right to request a copy of the personal data about you that we have stored and to request corrections if needed. You can request that any personal data we hold about you, with the exception of any data we are obliged to keep for administrative purposes by law, be deleted. You can withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with us and/or your local data protection authority.
